Please note that to obtain the right calculation it is the height of the posts that must be used. The width required is the width between the posts. If no posts are present then the gate opening will include the width of the posts.

All hinges will be sized according to the type and size of gate.
Post widths supplied by us are as follows:
Use 6" x 6" x 8' tanalised post for gates up to 10' wide
Use 8" x 8" x 8' tanalised posts for gates over 10' wide
Use 4" x 3" posts for all double gate sizes
Use 3" x 2" posts for all single gate sizes
Please Note: We may adjust your gate size to accomadate any slight difference in post width
When ordering a gate please reduce the width and height of all wooden gates by the following amounts, to allow the gates to be fitted properly.
Double Entrance Wooden Gates:
Height -38mm Width -30mm.
Single Wooden Gates:
Height -38mm Width -15 mm.
Courtyard Wooden Gates:
Height -38mm Width -75mm.
It is important that these gaps are present to allow wooden gates to swell during humid weather.
On single gates we will need to know which side the gate will be hinged on, so that we can brace the gate correctly. If you stand in the opening where your gate will be hung, looking at the front (the outside of the gate) the hinges will either go on the left or right.
